My Kindle Unlimited Favorites pt.2

Fantasy books have become my new favorite genre of book. If you've been on Booktok, then you know this genre has become one of the most popular genres of books, especially among the YA (young adult) and NA (new adult) reading communities. Of course, I am one of the SJM girlies. Sarah J Maas opened my eyes to entire worlds in the fantasy realm. She has written three epic series that I have read and reread multiple times. They are series that I absolutely have not been able to walk away from. That being said, they are not Kindle Unlimited books. I have, however, found some fantasy books that have filled the SJM void for me.

Kindle Unlimited is filled with fantasy books. From vampires to witches to fae, whatever your pleasure, you will find it on Kindle Unlimited. I've found a couple of authors on Kindle Unlimited that I've really enjoyed. One, I would even go so far as to say is the next Sarah J Maas when it comes to the emotions her writing evoked from me.

Carissa Broadbent

Carissa Broadbent is quickly becoming the next Sarah J Maas on Tik Tok. People are obsessed with her books. I have to agree. It's no surprise that one of my favorite book series is the Throne of Glass series by SJM and had a difficult time letting it go once I finished the series. I happened upon on book recommendation on TikTok promising this book series would help fill the void left by TOG ending. What is that series you may ask? The War of Lost Hearts by Carissa Broadbent. By luck, it was a Kindle Unlimited read so I added it to my library. Let me tell you, I love this series and have read it through twice. The world building, character development and overall story telling are stunning. Following the epic story of Tissanah from slave to hero, the twists and turns, the heartbreak and agony, Broadbent pulls the reader into every emotion our heroine endures. The reader becomes completely invested in the relationship between Tissanah and Max while following them through the three books in the series. This story is beautifully heartbreaking and nail biting at the same time. This is one of those stories that I will recommend over and over again.

The War of Lost Hearts (3 books)

Daughter Of No Worlds

Children of Fallen Gods

Mother of Death and Dawn

Lissette Marshall

Fae Isles Series (3 Books)

A Court of Blood and Bindings

Lord of Gold and Glory

Ruins of Sea and Souls (to be released 5/31/2023)

Lissette Marshall is another author that has many book titles on Kindle Unlimited. I first stumbled on upon the Fae Isles series and I really enjoyed it. It was slow burn to start but once the relationship between the two main characters began to take shape, the story really picks up and gets the reader invested in the characters' lives. This is an enemies to lovers, with high fae, found family undertones. This is the tale of Emmeline and Creon and their journey to end the centuries old war between the Fae and all the other creatures of the world. So far there are only two books in the series but the third is due out at the end of May. I am looking forward to seeing how the story of Creon and Emmeline battling the Fae Queen continues. This story has some Acotar undertones for sure. We have a female main character unaware of the world of the Fae or her part in that world. On the other hand, we have Creon, the most powerful Fae being and counterpart to Emmeline. These two reluctantly agree to work together to bring down the Fae Queen and end the grip that the high fae hold on their world. The relationship between Emmeline and Creon is beautifully crafted and has the reader rooting for this duo immensely.

Tricia O'Malley

The Isle of Destiny Series (4 books)

The Stone Song

The Sword Song

The Spear Song

The Sphere Song

Yep, that's right, Tricia O'Malley makes her way to my favorites list again. I absolutely adore Tricia O'Malley and she will show up on my favorites list several more times. First up on the fantasy list is the Isle of Destiny series. This series ties in with O'Malley's Mystic Cove series. I guess it is somewhat of a crossover book. I didn't include the Mystic Cove series on my fantasy list because although it has fantasy undertones, I felt it was more of a romance series. Look for Mystic Cove on my favorite romance list. While there are heavy undertones of romance in the Isle of Destiny series, it really follows each protagonist in their quest to find their ancient fae artifact that they have been tasked with at birth. Each book follows a different set of protagonists on their journey with all of them coming together in the fourth book in the final epic battle. This series is fun, spicy and action packed. I love the strong-willed female characters that O'Malley crafts. She weaves tales of friendship and love while keeping the reader engrossed through the non-stop action of the quest.

The Wildsong Series (3 books)

The Song of the Fae

Melody of Flame

Chorus of Ashes

The Wildsong Series is the second of the Tricia O'Malley fantasy series. This series also ties into the Mystic Cove series. It is a branch off of the Mystic Cove novella, Wild Irish Christmas. I really do love how O'Malley has been able to weave the characters from Mystic Cove into two other series. It is seamless in my opinion. So far, I have only read the first two books in this series. The third was only released on Kindle Unlimited last week and I just have not gotten around to reading it yet. I promise it is next on my list. This series is similar to the Isle of Destiny series in that each book follows a protagonist on a quest to stop the dark fae from getting a foothold in our world and gaining power. The difference is the books delve into the world of elemental fae and each book is told from a different elemental perspective. Again, there is romance mixed with spice but that is not the driving factor of the story. The strong female characters of each book are the driving factors in my opinion. I'm looking forward to the continuation of the story and plan on writing a standalone review of that book.

These are just a few of the fantasy books available on Kindle Unlimited. As I'm writing this, I have several more sitting in my library waiting to be read. I highly recommend each of the series I have suggested above. Each series creates a world that the reader wants to be immersed in and each series is hard to let go of once it has been finished. Give one of these of try and let me know what you think.

Next up in my Kindle Unlimited series, my favorite romance reads. Get ready for some spice!!!
