Kindle Unlimited Pt. 3

Maybe I should just call this one my Lucy Score appreciation post. Why? Well, she has quickly become one of my favorite romantic comedy authors and she has a virtual treasure trove of books available on Kindle Unlimited. I am quickly working my way through her catalog. I love the female leads that Lucy crafts. They are always smart, quirky, funny and of course spit fires. I love a book with good banter between the romantic leads and Lucy never fails to deliver. She has several standalone books as well as a few series that follow either a town or a family in their romantic endeavors. Whether you're looking for a small town romance, grumpy boss, enemies to lovers vibe, Lucy delivers on all fronts. She doesn't shy away from the spice.

By A Thread

This is the epitome of grumpy boss romance. By A Thread follows the romance of Dominc and Ally and it is a thrill a minute ride for sure. Yes, it is a slow burn lead up but once the two main leads finally give into their attraction for each other, Lucy Score delivers the spice that romance readers love. Ally is a quick witted, down on her luck woman who doesn't take crap from anyone. Her love for family and friends is endearing and makes her a character to root for. Dominic is a tortured soul who is trying not to repeat the sins of his father. Underneath his veneer of polished executive hides a man longing for love and understanding. This was my first book from Lucy Score and it is the one that got me hooked.

Other Lucy Score Standalone books available on Kindle Unlimited that I would recommend are:

Forever Never

Rock Bottom Girl

Worst Best Man

Undercover Lover

Mr. Fixer Upper

The Christmas Fix

The Knockemount Series

The Knockemount series follows brother Knox and Nash as they find love and maybe a little salvation in the small town of Knockemount, Virginia. The first book in the series, "Things We Never Got Over", follows Naomi as she juggles becoming a new single mother and dealing with the aftereffects of running out on her wedding. With her troubled twin sister stealing her car and all her belongings and leaving Naomi in charge of preteen Waylay, Naomi finds herself stranded in a strange town and at the mercy of grumpy but gorgeous Knox. This story is full of all the romantic tropes we love. A grumpy leading man, spunky female lead, enemies to lovers and pretend relationship. This book is laugh out loud funny.

Things We Hide From the Light is the second book in the Knockemount series and follows the story of Knox's brother Nash. It follows Nash's recovery after his shooting in the first book and also his attraction to his new next door neighbor Lina. Lina just so happens to be an ex of his brother which makes for an entertaining storyline. Again, a laugh out loud book with a story that keeps you on your toes. The heat between Lina and Nash is evident from their first meeting and the reader can feel that these two characters are twin souls. Through both books in the series, Lucy Score crafts characters that leave the reader wanting more of their stories. Her ability to write comedy that at times had me cackling, is uncanny. I am anxiously awaiting book three the series.

Coming September 5, 2023. Check back for my review.

The Blue Moon Series

The Blue Moon Series follows the Pierce family and the wacky town of Blue Moon. This series is so cute and so fun, I've read it through a couple times. I like to compare to Gilmore Girls meets Woodstock. The town of Blue Moon is a character all unto itself. There are eight books in this series with one being a prequel of sorts. The first three books, follow the love stories of the Pierce brothers starting with the oldest, Carter. As we follow their stories, we're introduced to the zany Beautification Committee of Blue Moon. Their sole purpose is to "help" a couple they deem worthy of their assistance in falling in love. Each story is heartwarming, funny, with a little spice added in for good measure. This series had me wishing for the good people of Blue Moon to be real. So much fun to read!!!

The Benevolence Series (including Pretend Your Mine, Finally Mine, Protecting What's Mine)

The first book (and my personal favorite) in the Benevolence series is "Pretend You're Mine". It follows the love story of Luke and Harper. Harper stumbles upon the small town of Benevolence after catching her live-in boyfriend and boss in bed with another woman. After getting herself knocked unconscious breaking up a domestic fight, Harper wakes up staring into the beautiful face of Luke Garrison. He's a brooding National Guard reserve man who has sworn off dating after a tragically broken heart. He takes pity on Harper and helps with a place to live and job while she tries to get herself back on her feet. There is so much heat between these two characters from their first meet. Luke is a caretaker while Harper is a risk taker. The two come together and mend each other's broken lives. I laughed out loud and shed a few tears while following their love story. Lucy Score is the queen of snarky banter, and this book has its fair share of it. While the Benevolence series doesn't follow a family of brothers, the other two books in the series, "Finally Mine" and "Protecting What's Mine" do follow the love stories of characters we meet in the initial story "Pretend You're Mine." If you love small time romance with a little spunk and a lot of spice, then these are the books for you.

Sinner and Saint Series (Crossing the Line and Breaking the Rules)

The Sinner Saint series tells the love story of movie star Waverly Sinner and private security agent Xavier Saint. When Waverly's controlling movie star parents hire Xavier Saint's security company to try and manipulate Waverly into working more, the two immediately butt heads. Waverly is tired of Hollywood and everything that entails and is ready to move on and live a normal life. For her, that means attending college but she knows her mother will never let that happen. After an accident caused by overzealous paparazzi, Xavier is hired to keep Waverly in line. After it is brought to his attention that Waverly may have a dangerous stalker on her hands, Xavier pushes Waverly to trust him and take her security seriously. Through this they develop a close friendship all the while trying not to cross the line between client and bodyguard. In the end the lines do become blurred which doesn't end well for the couple. The saga continues in "Breaking the Rules." It's now five years later and we learn that Waverly has graduated from college only to become a secret agent while still working in the movie business. She and Xavier are reunited and must work together to figure out who tried to kill Waverly and what has happed to her partner/boyfriend. These books are rollercoaster rides of mystery and emotion. I think these might be the spiciest Lucy Score books I've read. While the storyline might be a bit of a stretch, the love story between Waverly and Xavier is touching. They have their struggles as a couple, but both know that there will never be anyone but each other for them.

Tricia O'Malley books

Okay, taking a turn from Lucy Score, Tricia O'Malley makes her 3rd appearance on my Kindle Unlimited series. I do believe that even though O'Malley weaves in fantastical elements to most of her books, she is a diehard romance writer. My first introduction to Tricia O'Malley was her Mystic Cove Series and from there, I just wanted to read everything I could get my hands on that she's written. Her writing is fun and joyful. From spicy romance to found family fantasy, she has a little bit of everything any true romance reader is looking for. So, if you're looking for a fun book that you can disappear into for a few hours, try these Tricia O'Malley books. I promise, you won't regret it.
