Things We Left Behind

Finally, finally it's here. Lucy Score released the final book in the Knockemount series and let me tell you, she does not disappoint readers with the story we have a been waiting for. Through the first two books in the series, Score has teased the tension between the Lucian and Sloane characters. Readers have been left pondering what the history is between these two characters. With "Things We Left Behind", our questions are finally answered. This book is heartbreaking, infuriating, sexy, funny and all the things Lucy Score fans expect from one of her books.

"Things We Left Behind" continues with the Duncan Hugo storyline from the first two books. Yes, Duncan Hugo, Jr has been arrested for Nash Morgan's shooting, but this book has our group hunting down Duncan Hugo, Sr. Lucian won't stop until he brings the person responsible for shooting his childhood friend to justice. Meanwhile, Sloan is dealing with the recent death of her father. When the book begins, Sloan is obviously struggling with her loss. Of course, always lurking somewhere in the shadows, is Lucian Rollins. He may "despise" Sloan, but he has never stopped looking after her all of these years. He still owns his childhood house next door to Sloan, even though the house is haunted with the memories of his past. Through flashbacks to their shared past, the reader finally gets a glimpse of why these two characters have never fully been able to let go of each other. Both claiming not to care but neither able to stay away from the other.

Lucy Score tells Lucian's heartbreaking story, and the reader is pulled in to falling in love with his character. He is a deeply flawed, morally grey character that you can't help but root for. He is all stoney exterior but hiding a true heart of gold underneath all of that hurt. It's evident from the first flashback, that both Lucian and Sloane have loved each other from the moment they first met but because of a youthful mistake, they have been at odds with each other for over twenty years.

Honestly, I could not put this book down. I finished it in a day and then immediately turned around and reread it. It's that good. It's fast paced and rip roaring funny at times and I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little in love with Lucian Rollins now. Score ties up the series perfectly and sweetly. Definitely, run to her website for the bonus epilogue. You will not be disappointed.
